BioDiesel

Global Warming
Use Bio-fuels

What is bio diesel?Biodiesel is the name of a clean burning alternative fuel, produced from domestic, renewable resources. Biodiesel contains no petroleum, but it can be blended at any level with petroleum diesel to create a biodiesel blend. It can be used in compression-ignition (diesel) engines with little or no modifications. Biodiesel is simple to use, biodegradable, nontoxic.
BioDiesel is a manufactured product, slightly yellow in color, oily liquid with a slight aromatic odor and a bitter taste
.

Why should we use bio diesel?

Why should we use bio diesel? Biodiesel is better for the environment because it is made from renewable resources and has lower emissions compared to petroleum diesel. It is less toxic than table salt and biodegrades as fast as sugar. Since it is made in the INDIA from renewable resources such as Jatropha, its use decreases our dependence on foreign oil and contributes to our own economy.
Benefits of Bio-Diesel
Biodiesel has many environmentally beneficial properties. The main features & benefit of biodiesel is that it can be termed as "Carbon neutral". *Biodiesel reduces serious air pollutants such as particulates & air toxicity.Due to its less polluting combustion, biodiesel provides a 90% reduction in cancer risks & neonatal defects.

Features of Biodiesel

Features of Biodiesel:-
Biodiesel does not have any toxic emissions like mineral diesel
Biodiesel is a clean burning fuel
Biodiesel is made from any vegetable oil such as Soya, Rice bran, Canola, Palm, Coconut, mustard or peanut or from any animal fat like Lard or tallow.
Biodiesel is a complete substitute of Mineral diesel (HSD).
Biodiesel is made through a chemical process which converts oils and fats of natural origin into fatty acid methyl esters (FAME).
Biodiesel IS NOT vegetable oil.
Biodiesel is intended to be used as a replacement for petroleum diesel fuel, or can be blended with petroleum diesel fuel in any proportion.
Biodiesel does not require modifications to a diesel engine to be used.
Biodiesel has reduced exhaust emissions compared to petroleum diesel fuel.
Biodiesel has lower toxicity compared to petroleum diesel fuel.
Biodiesel is safer to handle compared to petroleum diesel fuel.
Biodiesel quality is governed by ASTM D 6751 quality parameters.
Biodiesel is biodegradable
The ConceptThe biodiesel formula is quite simple. It involves separating the vegetable oil. Through the biodiesel process the pure oil and the by product glycerin are separated out creating the biodiesel. This chemical process is called transesterification.
Starnards:Specifications for Biodiesel (B-100) : Provided by the National Biodiesel Board. Standard Specification for Biodiesel Fuel (B100) Blend Stock for Distillate Fuels provided by ASTM International. Biodiesel Production and Quality : provided by the National Biodiesel Board.
Pure biodiesel (B100) needs to meet the requirements of ASTM D6751 to avoid engine operational problems
